“We do not invest in production of more biomass. We multiply the use of the leaf material that is already produced. We add value to existing leaf material production. And reduce the waste of the largest forgotten food source: the leaf. Our current focus is unlocking the full potential of grass. Through a natural process of pressing, heating, and filtering, they convert grass into high-quality protein products. The by-product of this process is fed back to cows, enabling them to produce the same amount of milk, but more sustainably. This allows dairy farmers to improve the sustainability of their milk production while also becoming producers of plant-based protein as an alternative to soy.
As global protein demand grows, the environmental impact of traditional protein sources, like livestock farming, becomes increasingly unsustainable. Grassa’s innovative process provides a solution by converting grass into high-quality protein, offering benefits for both farmers and the food industry, reducing the ecological footprint of protein production. With our technology, we can transform the protein production by upcycling grass into sustainable, high-quality protein.”

The Circular Factory Program’s third edition is well underway to empower five circular entrepreneurs as they scale toward opening their first demo plants. Last week, our cohort dove into the Feedstock pillar, a cornerstone of the journey to scaling a circular factory. Participants explored the complexities of feedstock sourcing, quality, and regulatory challenges through a blend of expert-led sessions and a site visit to PeelPioneers, a leading circular innovator.
